Easy to get to with modern airports and excellent travel links within the country you can see a lot in a short space of time. Hurghada is of course one of the main ‘Go To’ holiday destinations and with its central location it makes it an ideal base.
From Hurghada you can travel North and visit Cairo which has a wealth of interesting places to visit and of course is home to The Pyramids and museums full of world famous exhibits.
Travel South and you can visit places such as Luxor and Aswan with their many exciting attractions.
Accomodation is Egypt is cheap and even 4 and 5 star hotels can booked for very low prices. The currency is the Egyptian £ which is roughly 23EGP to £1 GBP. Eating out in Egypt is very budget freindly with local street food stands selling lunch for less than a can of Coke in Europe. Many large international fast food chains have locations in most of the major cities with McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and Burger King all available.
You will find cuisines from all over the world in the 1000’s of restaraunts you will find in the major cities with Hurghada on it’s own reputed to have over 6000 places to eat.
Prices are much lower than in the UK and even if you go to eat in the marina in El Gouna the home of the rich and famous prices are on par with a mid price restaraunt in the UK.

Egypt’s largest cities are
Cairo, capital of Egypt and one of the largest urban areas in Africa.
Alexandria, the country’s chief port.
Giza, the third-largest city and the location of the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Giza is part of the Cairo metropolitan area.
Port Said, the northern terminus of the Suez Canal. Port Said was founded at the start of the construction of the Suez Canal in April 1859.
Suez, the seaport on the north coast of the Gulf of Suez, is the southern terminus of the Suez Canal.
Luxor, the largest city in central Egypt, is home to the Luxor Temple and the World Heritage Site of Ancient Thebes with its Necropolis.
Mansoura, a city in the Nile delta region on the east bank of the Damietta branch of the river.
Tanta, another large city in the delta region and a center of Egypt’s cotton industry.
Using Hurghada as a base it is possible to visit a wide range of destinations using the very reliable GoBus service. You can reach Luxor in 4 hours in Cairo in just under 6 hours. GoBus is marketed as an aircraft on the ground with it’s Elite service having airplane style seats with personal TV screens loaded with movies and games many in English. A trip from Hurghada to Luxor is around £10 and to Cairo is about £12 one-way. Tickets can be booked online and then saved to your mobile.
